New Transportation Minister aware of dangers despite never driving Highway 63

Alberta’s new Transportation Minister admitting he’s never driven Highway 63.

But Calgary-Hays MLA Rick McIver says he is aware of the dangers.

“My understanding is that the highway needs to be twinned because of the high volume of traffic that goes down it and also┬ábecause of┬áthe high volume of heavy equipment that slows traffic down, which tends to lead to some people getting impatient. That sometimes leads to bad judgement, bad decisions passing and that sometimes leads to bad accidents,” McIver told Mix News.

Adding that he met with senior staff yesterday and has a more in depth meeting planned for next week.
